Early Summer 2010

Many thanks to those of you who joined us and made our Mother’s Day opening such a success!!

Our Guest chef stint in the amazing resort of Cap Juluca on the Carribbean island of Anguilla
was a great success: well attended and simply spectacular.

We are now back, & open for the early season, Friday and Saturday nights, including both Fine Dining & the Bistro. The restaurant will honor restaurant week this coming week, and in addition, we will continue to run 3 course $25 specials in the Bistro, as last year, for the early season: then offer the same special before 6:30, once the full season begins in mid June. Lovely luncheons/ brunch in the Bistro or, al fresco in the Garden, will be available on weekends all summer, beginning on Memorial day Sunday. Bring a friend and have a leisurely luncheon on the Patio. Al fresco dining at night on the Bistro Patio is also available: named one of the Top ten Al Fresco Dining spots in America last Summer….!

Remember, we also offer a Chef’s Tasting for groups of 4-6 in the Gazebo from the Chillingsworth kitchen (Nitzi) for a very special evening with friends…...

There will be an expanded Bar Menu nightly for a quick glass of wine, or a cocktail and a large selection of small plates: in the bar and on the adjacent patio: a bar only menu, although bar clients can also order from the bistro menu.

CATERING! Many of you are not aware that we cater parties, large parties, weddings, & corporate groups & intimate dinner parties. Call & inquire.

Again this year we will host a monthly series of Vintners/Guest Chef Dinners.

The Tasting dinner, Saturday June 19th. This is the first of the monthly events, our annual kick-off and welcome back to old friends and new. This year we will come up blooming with “Flowers Winery” from the northern Sonoma coast… www.Flowerswinery.com . Wonderful full bodied Pinot Noirs, & Chardonnays… award winning wines, some of which are available only through their “Friends List”. A great chance to try these limited editions, paired with a selection of our new menu ideas for the Summer, garnered from travels to L.A. the Caribbean, and Mexico…. We look forward to welcoming old friends & new to this Summer opener.
There will be an owner representative from the winery on hand to discuss the wines, and the kitchen will roll out thoughts and menu items new for the summer. A day from the Summer Solstice, this is always a beautiful evening for cocktails on the patio, and gathering for the first time to see old friends, and ushering in the Summer Season. Please put together a table and join us/ one of our favorite evenings…plus, celebrate Father’s Day in style!!
Hors d’oeuvres, wines from the stellar “Flowers winery” and a menu paired to the wines….a winery rep on premise…. $120 per person inclusive.

We will also offer, at Brunch in the bistro a special 3-course menu for the Dad’s where you can easily bring all the family.

Saturday July 10th we will combine 4th of July & Bastille Day with a combined revolutionary dinner with our own renegade, Guest Vintner/owner, Brice Jones, whom you remember from Sonoma Cutrer. He now has the spectacular Wm. Wesley, a vineyard designated Pinot Noir (93!) and his Emeritus Pinot Noir: www.Emeritusvinyards.com
Brice is representing the American celebration: for the whites & the French Connection, we will feature JJ Vincent, lovely soft burgundies to represent the French effort. Appropriately featuring the Marie Antoinette Pouilly Fuisse among others from their portfolio; classic French white burgundies, classic American Pinot Noir paired with a terrific menu featuring both American & French Classics to match the occasions…. A melding of both, and great fun with Brice himself presiding. He started the American/Burgundian Society of winemakers, sharing techniques and promoting the Burgundian style of winemaking in this country. He is well acquainted with all the players, as well as being highly entertaining so it promises to be both fun and educational. Like the Flowers Dinner, one will be able to join the preferred list for the Wm. Wesley which is not available for sale other than through this on-line list. It is quite a treat…Priced @ $120 per person, inclusive: H’ds, American & French wines, a fantastic menu, tax & gratuity….

Sunday August 8th: A PINK BRUNCH!!!

This event is sheer fun. We will meet in the garden @ 1pm for an ethereal Pink event:
Rose Champagnes& Sparkling wines with hors d’oeuvres followed by a delightful Pink luncheon: think lobster, shrimp, salmon, rose’ meats…rose petal sorbet and other rose hued desserts!!
Fabulous Rose` wines from Provence and a couple from the states will be poured at luncheon. We can pretend we’re in Cannes for a Sunday brunch. We hope to have a special guest host, for this: Amy Reiley the second American to earn the title “Master of Gastronomy from the Cordon Bleu. Winner of France’s prestigious award “France’s Wine Women” but more fun yet Cookbook author of “Fork Me Spoon Me: the Sensual Cookbook” and soon to be released “The Love Diet” She has been on Good Morning America, written up by Gault & Millaut, Variety, Bon Appetit, and so one. Hopefully her schedules co-ordinate, she’s highly entertaining!! More on that later.
We encourage everyone to wear PINK!! The guys can pull out that pink shirt, or pink linen pants. A portion of this will go to our breast care center in Hyannis, a great local cause. Finish the weekend with a rosy glow… Priced at $110 per person inclusive with a donation made to our Breast Care Center in Hyannis.…..

There is another Vintner’s Dinner tentatively scheduled for later in the month: Date & Vintner to be announced…check our website: www.chillingsworth.com

Sunday September 5th: Labor Day Weekend
Our annual end of the season sparkler: the Champagne Dinner.

Hosted by the soignée Mario who will have just returned from Monaco where his own champagne, Paul Georg is the “House Wine” for the principality!! We will have hors d’oeuvres in the garden at sunset, followed by a multi-course dinner with a selection of champagnes
ranging from Blancs de Blanc to Bruts aged a bit in oak: Fabulous!!
Nitzi and Mario work together to pair the menu & Champagnes and the results are always dazzling: a rare chance to sample a comparative tasting of the finest of champagnes with a great meal. Mario grew up in Champagne and is wildly conversant on the topic….bring note cards and wear, as always, your Summer Whites for the last Hurrah!
